How would you best describe your public self?
For better or for worst, our public self performs for an audience, real or imagined. An open thread.
Seekers,
I decided to use a normal post for Wednesday’s forum thread to give me a little multimedia leeway in setting up the context for our discussion. Listen to the audio first, and then pick up the thread from there.
After I did the exercise mentioned in the audio, I was curious to know what GPT-4 would have to say based on my online presence. Here’s the prompt I used:
My name is Clay Lowe, also known as soulcruzer. Based on the information available, how would you describe or characterise my personality?
And here is what it said:
Based on the information available up to September 2021, Clay Lowe, also known as soulcruzer, appears to be an individual with a passion for personal development, community building, and creating meaningful connections with others. As a podcast host, blogger, and facilitator of various workshops and events, Clay demonstrates strong communication skills and a genuine interest in helping people explore their own personal growth journeys.
His involvement in various online and offline communities showcases his ability to bring people together and foster a sense of belonging. Clay's background in the military and later as a learning and development professional suggests that he is disciplined, adaptable, and committed to continuous self-improvement.
While it's difficult to accurately characterize someone's entire personality based solely on publicly available information, the image Clay projects online suggests that he is engaging, empathetic, and motivated to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
I believe this to be fairly accurate. What do you think? Between ChatGPT and me, what did I miss?
What about you? How does your public perception or projection of yourself compare with how others see you? What did ChatGPT have to say about you?
I’ll leave you with a few lines from my favourite T.S. Eliot poem, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock:
And indeed there will be time
For the yellow smoke that slides along the street,
Rubbing its back upon the window-panes;
There will be time, there will be time
To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet;
You will find chat DaveA70 far superior. I have consulted and it has come back with ‘Clay Lowe - A warrior for peace’.
This is super cool Clay. And a really articulate write up by AI of who you are online. And aligns with my view of you.
