Editor’s note: I tried to use Susbstack’s own video feature, but it just didn’t want to upload. So I turned to the tried-and-tested YouTube to host this video I made for you.

You know, it's great to be out and about again. I'm taking a quick morning walk to get myself ready for the day. I realised that I haven't vlogged in a while, and it's about time I start doing some vlogs again. I've been out of the game for too long, focusing on writing The Coach's Notes and podcasting, but I haven't done much with videos. I want to incorporate them back into the mix.
You know what? It just hit me that we're already in the second half of the year. Time flies, doesn't it? If we use an American football analogy, halftime is over, and we're now fully into the third quarter. The big question is: what's the score? Are we winning or losing?
I can tell it's been ages since I made a vlog because I grabbed my GoPro without even checking the battery. I didn't expect to vlog, so I just threw it in my bag. And right in the middle of asking you about the score, the battery died. It's frustrating, but hey, these things happen. So now I'm using my iPhone instead.
Anyway, back to the question: What's the score? Are we winning or losing? It's always a good time of year to assess our progress. We're at the halfway mark, entering the second half. Are we on track? Do we need to adjust our strategy? It's a big question, isn't it?
Lately, I've been in a reflective mood, evaluating where I stand and where I'm headed. Am I on track to achieve what I set out to accomplish this year? It's essential to periodically review our destination and our goals to ensure we're progressing as intended.
So, it's time for adjustments if needed. It's time to shift gears and change tactics if necessary, but always stay focused on where we want to go. And sometimes, we might even decide to change the goals we're pursuing and embrace new ones. It's crucial to make sure our actions align with our desired life outcomes because it's our life, and we only get one shot at it.
Remember, it doesn't matter what your goals are or what your destination is. You have the freedom to choose whatever you want. Make that conscious decision about the end state, the ultimate goal you want to achieve, and then go after it. Set your sights on it and make it happen.
So, my friends, what's the score?
Renowned scholar of mythology and philosopher extraordinaire, Joseph Campbell, said that maximum aliveness is the ultimate prize we seek. And it isn't just about physical vigour or mental acuity; it's about feeling vibrantly alive and connected to the universe. It's the euphoria one experiences when their consciousness aligns with the pulse of existence—a state of blissful synchronicity with the rhythm of life.
He said:
"people say we are seeking a meaningful life. I don't think that is really what we are seeking. What we are seeking is to feel the rapture of being alive."
Life is a collective human journey, and it's not so much a quest for meaning as it is a pilgrimage in pursuit of the rapture of existence, the ecstatic celebration of the sheer joy of being alive.
As we used to say back in my army days, "Get Some!"
And I most definitely want some of that rapture. How about you?
I’m off to Wales tomorrow for four days. The plan is to soak up as much nature as I can, squeeze in some mini-adventures, and, in the evenings, enjoy maximum relaxation. I’ll be sharing snippets of my adventure on Instagram. Feel free to join me on this adventure by following my account.
Peace and love,
Clay
